UT Geocoding-Address Entry Information

Greetings Utah OffenderWatch® Users:

We just wanted to send a memo to clear up any confusion about address entries. Please be sure to enter address entries into each separate field (Street Number, Directional Prefix, Street Name, Street Type, Directional Suffix, etc.) in the address tabs of OffenderWatch®.

This will facilitate proper geocoding, proper mapping, as well as proper search results. Please DO NOT enter an entire address into the street name field. This is exactly opposite of what Watch Systems trains users to do. It probably will not lead to any issues, but we recommend entering into the separate fields to avoid any potential problem with mapping and geocoding.

Here is an excerpt from the OffenderWatch User Manual:

The street address is entered into several subfields to facilitate maximum accuracy in mapping the address. The street number is entered in the first field, followed by the street directional prefix (for example “North” in the street “North Main St.”), followed by the Street name (“Main”), the street type (“St.”), and if applicable, the street suffix direction (for example, “East” in “Gause Blvd. East”). Enter any apartment numbers, lot numbers or PO Box information in the “Apt / Unit/ Suite” field.
